PM’s Task Force on Global Warming & Heatwave meeting briefed about establishment of central coordination unit

Second meeting of the Prime Minister’s Task Force on Global Warming and Heatwave was held in Islamabad today [Friday] with Minister for Climate Change Sherry Rehman in the chair.

Minister for National Food Security Tariq Bashir Cheema, along with Secretary Information, NDMA and provincial secretaries attended the meeting.

On the ocassion, Sherry Rehman expressed grave concern over the ongoing fire in Sherani district of Balochistan. She said the fire is getting out of hands and provincial government needs to take cognizance of its repercussions.

During the meeting, the Minister for Climate Change was apprised about the establishment of the central coordination unit.

She was informed that this unit would ensure inter-provincial coordination and allow federal government to stay updated on the current climate change situation throughout the country.
