Police show off preparedness for Muharram ul Harram

Islamabad: In a bid to ensure foolproof security and maintain law and order in the capital city during Muharram, Islamabad Police organized a flag march in which personnel of Islamabad police, anti terrorist squad, patrolling squads of rescue 15 and contingents of police commandos, Rangers, also participated.

SSP Islamabad Malik Muhammad Yousuf led the march, which was organized on the directives of IGP Islamabad Bani Amin Khan. All SPs including SP (Sadar Zone) Sajid Kyani, SP (City) Muhammad Ilyas, SP (Rural) Faisal Bashir Memon, SP (Industrial Area) Ishaq Warraich, SDPOs, SHOs and personnel of Islamabad Traffic Police, patrolling officers, Eagle Squads, Falcons of Rescue 15, squads of Quick Response Force, lady Commandoes and officers of District Management also attended the flag march.

More than 110 vehicles of Islamabad Police and other wings along with a large number of motorcycles took part in the march, which started from Sports Complex, Islamabad and culminated at starting point i.e. Pakistan Sports Complex after passing through Aabpara Chowk, Melody Chowk, Imambargah Asna-e-Ashri G-6/2, Bari Imam, Blue Area,Jinnah Avenue, Imambargah Al-Sadiq G-9/2, F-10 Markaz, F-11 Markaz, Bhekha Syedan, Golra Shareef, Shah Allah Ditta, Trnol, G-11 Markaz, G-10 Markaz, G-9 Markaz, (Karachi Company), Jamia Al Murtaza G-9/4, Khyber Chowk, Kashmir Highway.

The SSP Islamabad Muhammad Yousaf Malik said that aim of the flag march was to ensure the security of public property and lives of the citizens especially and processions of Muharram-ul-Haram particularly In order to fulfil the task,. all SDPOs and SHOs will launch effective search operation as well as combing activities in their jurisdiction in the slum areas of the city including Afghan habitants and enhance vigilance at all entrance points of the city.

He stated that close liaison will be maintained with peace committees and organizers of Majalis and processions. He said that cooperation of organizers should be ensured with the police and law enforcing officials’ further told that a total number of 909 religious gatherings (Majalis) and 177 processions (159 traditional and 18 licensed) will be held in the city.

The SSP informed that strict security arrangements on these occasions and special checking of participants shall be observed. He said that special arrangements would be made for checking of `burqa-clad’ women participants in a prestigious way and to install walk through gates at all the entry points of Majalis.

He said that it should be ensured to make arrangements for checking of participants of Majalis and processions thorough metal detectors and Walk Through Gates.
