Lahore, May 28, 2012 (PPI-OT): A group of about 120 special children belonging to Pakistan Society for Rehabilitation of Disabled (PSRD) School Lahore visited WAPDA House in connection with thier study tour. The special children were accompanied by the school principal, and academic and support staff.
The study tour was arranged on the special directions of WAPDA Chairman.
Building Maintenance Division Executive Engineer Azam Joya briefed the children about the need to exploit water resources, WAPDA and its complete as well as on-going projects in water and hydropower sectors. The children were apprised of the importance of water conservation and the ways and means which could be employed for the purpose.
The delegation was also informed about the history of WAPDA House. In addition, a documentary pertaining to WAPDA projects was also shown to them. The special children took keen interest in the briefing and the documentary and asked several questions relating to water storage and hydel generation projects.
Later, the children visited various floors of the WAPDA House. They also witnessed models of the WAPDA projects placed there. On behalf of WAPDA, a souvenir was also presented to the school principal as memento to the visit.
It is pertinent to mention that WAPDA has been arranging study tours for the school students to apprise them about importance of water and its conservation. Earlier, the students of SOS Village and other schools had also visited the WAPDA House in connection with the said tours.
