President approves extension in tenure of Six Additional Judges of Sindh High Court

Islamabad, June 11, 2013 (PPI-OT): President Asif Ali Zardari today on the advice of the Prime Minister has approved extensions in tenure of the six Additional Judges of Sindh High Court for a period of one year. The Judges whose tenure has been extended include;

Mr. Justice Syed Muhammad Farooq Shah

Mr. Justice Farooq Ali Channa

Mr. Justice Aziz-ur-Rehman

Mr. Justice Aftab Ahmed Gorar

Mr. Justice Riazat Al Sahar

Mr. Justice Salahuddin Panhwar

The Summary received in the Presidency said that the nominations for extension as Additional Judges of Sindh High Court were received on May 25th, 2013 from Secretary Judicial Commission of Pakistan, Islamabad for confirmation by the Parliamentary Committee on Judges Appointment in Superior Courts.

The Parliamentary Committee, due to lack of quorum in its meeting on 3rd June, 2013, could not take formal decision on confirmation of the nominations within the stipulated time period of fourteen days, hence under clause 12 of article 175 A of the constitution, the nominations sent by Judicial Commission were deemed to have been confirmed.

Under Clause 13 of Article 175A of the Constitution, the nominations deemed to have been confirmed were subsequently forwarded to the Prime Minister for onward submission to the President for his approval.

Accordingly the President today accorded his approval to the extension in tenure of Mr. Justice Syed Muhammad Farooq Shah, Mr. Justice Farooq Ali Channa , Mr. Justice Aziz-ur-Rehman , Mr. Justice Aftab Ahmed Gorar, Mr. Justice Riazat Al Sahar and Mr. Justice Salahuddin Panhwar for a period of one year as Additional Judges of Sindh High Court .
