Prime Minister chairs high level meeting to review energy situation

Islamabad, June 11, 2013 (PPI-OT): Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif chaired a high level meeting to review the energy situation which lasted for over three hours at the Prime Minister’s Office today.

The meeting was attended by Federal Minister for Finance, Mr. Ishaq Dar, Minister for Water and Power, Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Minister for Petroleum, Mr. Shahid Khakan Abbasi, Minister for Information, Senator Pervez Rashid, Advisor on Water and Power, Dr. Musadiq Mlaik, representative of private sector, experts and senior officials.

The meeting decided to constitute a Cabinet Committee on Energy (CCE) which will be chaired by Prime Minister. Ministers for Finance, Water and Power, Petroleum and Natural Resources and Chief Minister Punjab will be its members.

The CEE will meet fortnightly and take decisions on matters relating to the entire power chain including generation and distribution.
