Pro-freedom slogans forces Ravi to leave speech

Srinagar, March 11, 2018 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, Hindu guru and Art of Living (AOL) founder, Sri Ravi Shankar had to cut short his speech and leave the venue after pro-freedom and anti-India slogans were raised by the audience at International Convention Center in Srinagar. The so-called peace conference titled ‘Paigam e Mohabbat’ could not go beyond minutes as the participants raised pro-freedom and anti-India slogans.

“We were told that Pakistani diplomat is here. It was a deceitful act by the organisers,” angry participants told reporters. After coming to know about the reality, many participants showed their resentment and spoke about the deceit of the organisers.

The function was held at International Convention Center, where Sri Ravi Shankar said he had been invited by some “well-meaning people” to speak at “Paigham-e-Mohabat” function. He, however, had to cut short his speech as people attending the function stood up and shouted pro-freedom slogans.

The Dukhtaran-e-Millat Chairperson, Aasiya Andrabi in a statement hit out at Sri Ravi Shankar for misleading Kashmiri people. “Attempts are being made by fascist guru to mislead Kashmiris by organizing so-called peace conferences,” she said.

“People of Kashmir for the last seventy years have been supporting the struggle for freedom so that peace can be established in this beleaguered part of the world,” Aasiya added. The Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference in a statement objected to the visit of Sri Ravi Shankar to Kashmir saying that Kashmiris were astonished to know as to how saints like Sri had fallen in the deceitful trap of Indian authorities.

The Muslim Conference President, Muhammad Sultan Magray said that the only way to heal the wounds of Kashmiris was to give them the right to decide their future as per relevant resolutions of the United Nations.
