Qaim Ali Shah directs Sindh Police, Law Enforcement Agencies to expedite targeted operation against terrorists

Karachi, April 27, 2014 (PPI-OT): The Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah has directed the Sindh Police and LEAs to expedite the targeted operation against the terrorists and take care of all sensitive markets, institutions and religious/ holy places in the city.

He directed them to activate their intelligence network in the field to search out the hideouts of the criminals and strike on them before they attack on the innocent people. The Chief Minister Sindh directed Sindh Police to launch vigorous operation against the dacoits involved in kidnapping for ransom in the other districts of interior Sindh and also arrest those who are patronizing them in this heinous crime.

He directed the Karachi Police to meet the challenges of detecting the real culprits, who involved in the attack on the Geo-Tv Anchor person Hamid Mir in Karachi. This he directed while presiding over meeting to review law and order and to examine the performance specially of Sindh Police at CM House Karachi this evening.

Addressing the meeting the Chief Minister Sindh said, recent bomb blasts indicate that instead of dialogues with central Government, the terrorists have not spared Karachi from their sabotaging activities and directed Sindh Police and LEAs should be prepare to meet with any eventuality of terrorist attack.

Similarly, taking the serious notice of kidnapping cases in interior Sindh reported in the press, the Chief Minister Sindh directed the IGP Sindh immediately to launch vigorous operation against the dacoits and their patronisers and keep the province clean from these elements.

The Chief Minister Sindh also took briefing about the progress of the investigation in the case of attack on the Geo Tv Anchor person Hamid Mir and lauded the efforts of Karachi Police for collecting very informative data/record.

He directed the officers to go through with same spirit and meet out this challenge and take lead in identification of culprits involved in this incident. He asked the officers also, to be helpful to the Judicial Commission already announced to probe into this incident.

The Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah said that he had made many decisions to well equipped and strengthen the Sindh Police and to provide Rs. 05 billion at their disposal for the purchase of latest Arms, equipments, bullet proof vehicles, vastes, helmets, APVs alarm detecting equipments was one of these decision, but Sindh Police still not has procured the items in question and it is following the procedure from which we had already examined them.

He strictly directed the authority concerned to procure the Arms and vehicles in question before the month of June 2014 without fail. He said that after having been such latest vehicles and equipments, the force would be in position to follow and fight against the terrorist. The Chief Minister Sindh also directed the Sindh Police and Intelligence Agencies to identify the culprits and their groups involved in the recent bomb blast in the city.

The IGP Sindh Iqbal Mehmood and Additional IGP Karachi Shahid Hayat while briefing the meeting informed that 35% decreases in the murder cases and 66% drop in target killing during the targeted operation has been reported.

They informed the meeting that 864 encounters with criminals were made, 656 arrested red-handed. Besides, 295 gangs busted and 285 extortionists arrested as such crime rate has been considerably decreased.

They said that as compared to 523 target killing cases in 2013 only 242 cases reported in the 2014 and 176 accused arrested similarly as compared to 197 murder cases reported in the month of January 2014 only 135 have been reported in the month of April 2014.

The meeting informed 782 accused wanted in murder cases of current and last year have been arrested. So far kidnapping for ransom was concerned the meeting was informed that out of 31 kidnapped persons, 27 have been recovered and 91 accused arrested while efforts were in the way to recover remaining 04 persons.
