Qaim Ali Shah directs Works and Services Department to start construction work on Sindh Secretariat Complex Project by end of September 2014

Karachi, August 07, 2014 (PPI-OT): The Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah has directed the management of Works and Services Department to complete all codal formalities and start the construction work on Sindh Secretariat Complex Project by the end of September 2014.

He directed them to complete the construction work of this project within 03 years. He said that this project has already been approved by the Cabinet at its estimated cost of 9.429 billion and Sindh Government has allocated Rs. 550 million this year.

He said that this building by virtue of its design/ alleviation must be a state of art and beautiful that not only to facilitate officials and visiting people but it also become the point of attraction for tourists/ local visitors as well.

He said that the Government was experiencing shortage of office accommodation and has remained without proper facilities to house the various departmental offices since 1947. Apart from this most of Sindh Government offices are also housed in rented premises.

He said that Government of Sindh has planned to construct a new Secretariat consisting of office and allied facilities to accommodate all Government Department at one place. The proposed scheme on the site of Secretariat 4-A and 4-B is designed to be modern, innovation state of art office complex selected through an architectural design competition by the Institute of Architects Pakistan (IAP). He asked the Architectures/ Engineers also address security concerns, while implementing on the project.

The Secretary to Works and Services Kazi Shahid Perviaz while briefing the meeting about project said that this project is divided into two phases including construction of Sindh Secretariat Complex at the location of Sindh Secretariat 4-A, Rs. 4726 (Million), and construction of Sindh Secretariat Complex No. 08 at the location of Sindh Secretariat 4-B at Rs. 4703 (Million).

The proposed design on site of Secretariat 4-A consists of 6 buildings: five of these buildings are ground +5 and the one is ground +15 having total covered area of 9,62,097 sqft concerned area. The site of Secretariat 4-B consists of 4 buildings, out of which 03 buildings are ground +5 and one is ground +15 having 8,82,477 sqft concerned area.

The scheme will also have basement parking facility of cars up to 1000 numbers besides special function buildings like auditorium, display/ function hall, cafeterias, mosque, conference halls, server rooms, library, computer cell, allied facilities like underground tanks, overhead tanks, water treatment plant, electric power substations, utility services, external development works, landscaping, effective security system, CCTV cameras, fire fighting system etc. the Chief Minister Sindh after threadbare discussing and briefing on the charts, placed some suggestions and asked them to incorporate the same in the designed. The Chief Secretary Sindh Sajjad Saleem Hotiyana attended the meeting.
