Rescue and relief operation by Pakistan Army continues in earthquake affected areas of Balochistan

Rawalpindi, April 17, 2013 (PPI-OT): Rescue and relief operation by Pakistan Army continues in the earthquake affected areas of Balochistan. 16 seriously wounded persons were evacuated last night by Army Helicopter having night flying capability from Mashakhel to Quetta.

A careful survey reveals that population of the area is approximately 10-15 thousand and mostly the houses are built of mud. More than 300 Army and Frontier Corps troops which include Doctors, Para Medics, Engineers and rescuers are busy in providing relief to affected people. A Field Medical facility has been established in Mashakhel to treat earthquake affectees.

Five Army helicopters are participating in relief operations. 1800 Kgs of food items and 1000 Kgs of medicines, 200 Blankets have been distributed among affectees so far.
