S.M. Muneer alongwith TDAP delegation meet President Mauritius

Karachi, October 24, 2016 (PPI-OT):The Chief Executive TDAP, Mr. S. M. Muneer met the President of the Republic of Mauritius, Dr. Ameenah Gurib Fakim at the State House on the 21st of October 2016 at 1645h. The CE TDAP was accompanied by the Director General (Americas and Asia Div.) Syed Rafeo Bashir Shah, Ms. Seema Mughal, Chancellor of Greenwich University, Mr. Faisal Idris Acting Charge D’Affaire of the Pakistan High Commission at Mauritius, Mr and Mrs. Hanif Gohar, Mr. Shakoor Khatri, Mr. Irfan Sarwana, Sardar Yasin Malik and Mr. Iqbal Ansari who were members of the high powered business delegation that accompanied the CE of the TDAP to Mauritius.

Welcoming the CE of the TDAP as well as the officials and businesspersons accompanying the CE TDAP, the President of Mauritius stated that there exists a tremendous potential of strengthening the commercial and economic relationship between the two brotherly countries, for which both countries need to work together and make efforts to maximize the benefits of joint commercial and trade relationships.

The President said that Pakistan has very good quality products and Mauritius has a very large coverage of preferential trading arrangements with countries like the US, E.U and the COMESA and SADEC regions. Both countries need to build up a strong and progressive partnership so that Pakistan can take benefit of the Mauritius trading regime with South and Central Africa as well as the world, and Mauritius can take economic advantages that can accrue to it through the CPEC. The President also desired that Pakistan and Mauritius can collaborate jointly by establishing a School of Fashion design in Mauritius and by holding gradually product specific exhibitions which can gradually lead to Pakistan’s single country exhibition.

Thanking the President of the Republic of Mauritius, the CE TDAP reiterated the sentiments expressed by the President of Mauritius and invited her to visit Pakistan again. The CE spoke highly about the commercial potential that Mauritius offers to Pakistan and vice versa. He stated that the high powered businessmen delegation that is visiting Mauritius, has had very successful B2B meetings that were planned and catered to by the BOI of Mauritius. He also briefed the President about the various meetings that have been held with the various Ministers and Governmental departments of Mauritius and their positive outcomes.

The CE TDAP also expressed the desire of the TDAP of holding these exhibitions in Mauritius and enquired about the available Exhibition Centres in which these can be held. The office of the President of Mauritius informed that the TDAP, if it expresses its desire to hold such Single Country Exhibitions or even product specific exhibitions, then the same can be planned in one of the many available convention centres in Port Louis. It was stated that it would depend upon the TDAP’s budgetary requirements as well in terms of the cost of the venue per sq. feet.

Thanking the President of Mauritius, the CE reiterated the need to further build up and strengthen the economic relationship between the two countries and expressed gratitude for the support that has been extended by the President of Mauritius as well as her office and the Government of Mauritius. The CE invited the President to visit Pakistan again. The meeting ended with a vote of thanks to the President by the CE TDAP who also presented a handmade carpet to the President of Mauritius as a token of appreciation and gratitude on behalf of the Government of Pakistan.
