S.M. Muneer for taking Pakistan’s exports up to $50 billion within next two three years

Karachi, April 08, 2014 (PPI-OT): A meeting of top management of TDAP and FPCCI was held on 7th April, 2014. Chief Executive, TDAP Mr. S.M. Muneer chaired the meeting.

2. Mr S.M. Muneer, on behalf of TDAP, welcomed the delegation headed by their President Mr. Zakaria Usman and acknowledged TDAP’s toiling efforts in boosting the exports. He showed his resolution to take Pakistan’s exports up to $50 billion within next two three years.

He further mentioned that support of FPCCI, Associations and Trade Bodies is required to experience strengthening of our exports as far as the vision of our honourable Prime Minster with the assistance/support of honourable Minister for Commerce and Textile Industry, is concerned.

3. Mr. Zakaria Usman, President FPCCI thanked Chief Executive, Secretary, and other officers of TDAP; and expressed that exponential rise in exports of Pakistan can meet possibility only if there are joint efforts by both FPCCI and TDAP.

Light was shed by him on the importance of “World Expo 2020 Dubai” and he informed the house about India’s already started endeavours to reap the benefits of this event. It was also told that India has already established their Display Centre to promote Indian products.

He stressed that in this regard Pakistan too needs to follow suit to cash the opportunities emancipating from the event over the next six years. He strongly suggested that Pakistan needs to emphasize on non-traditional sectors also.

He considered better coordination, R and D to be very instrumental for increasing exports. Points were raised by the FPCCI President over the working of government agencies especially Commercial sections/Trade Officers and recommended that bureaucrats and exporters need to be on same page with complete harmonization among government departments to ensure the meaningful hike in exports.

3. CE TDAP responded to the proposals made by the FPCCI and explained to them the efforts being taken by TDAP in addressing their issues. CE TDAP told them that the problem of ban on gold export is taken up with the Ministry of Finance; the problem of ANF attitude is taken to their concerned Brigadier.

On complaint about Commercial Sections he informed them that C.C’s performance is strictly scrutinized. CE told them that a joint committee of TDAP and FPCCI will be formed to formulize future strategies for GSP+ and TDAP would assist FPCCI in exploring new markets and trade delegation will be sent to Poland and France.
