School excursions banned on Amarnath yatra routes in IHK

Srinagar, June 22, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, ahead of upcoming Amarnath yatra that commences on June 28, the authorities have asked the heads of government and private educational institutions to desist from sending students on excursion and picnic to Pahalgam and Sonamarg areas.

A spokesman of the puppet administration in a statement in Srinagar said that in respect of other picnic spots, prior permission needed to be obtained from zonal education officer concerned and chief education officer in case of the elementary schools and in respect of high and higher secondary schools.

“This should be ensured by the head of the institutions both government and private that the excursion and picnics are conducted carefully, leaving no room for any misdemeanour and safe pick-up and return of students,” the spokesman said.
