Islamabad: The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) and the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at improving data sharing and collaboration. Signed at the DataFest 2025 event held at the Pak-China Center in Islamabad, the agreement sets the stage for enhanced information exchange, capacity building, and data sharing between the two entities.
The MoU is designed to facilitate the automated exchange of information, offering both organizations access to verified, first-hand data for analytical, statistical, and research purposes. This collaboration is expected to bolster evidence-based policy planning and decision-making, as well as improve the quality and timeliness of data used in national economic assessments.
According to the agreement, SECP and PBS will work toward sharing information and knowledge, exploring possibilities for exchanging data sets through digital platforms such as APIs, alongside traditional methods. All information exchanged will be aligned with the parties’ respective mandates and applicable laws.
This partnership signifies a step forward in enhancing data-driven decision-making within Pakistan’s economic and regulatory framework. For PBS, the agreement promises timely access to high-quality data, which is crucial for producing more accurate national accounts and business statistics.
The MoU highlights the commitment of both SECP and PBS to deepen their collaboration, enhance transparency, and advance digital transformation efforts to improve governance and economic intelligence in the country.
