Senior Minister holds meeting with World Bank’s delegation

Karachi, October 07, 2012 (PPI-OT): On Oct 6 Minister for education has held a high level meeting with the delegation of World Bank Mission, the WB Mission comprised of Mr. Dhushynth Raju (Team Leader), and Umbreen Arif (Education specialist Pakistan), Secretary Education Mukhtar Hussain Soomro, Special Secretary Education Sajjad Abbasi, Parveez Seehar Chief Program Manger (RSU) and Ghulam Nabi (Deputy Program Manager) participated in the meeting on the design of Sindh Education Reform Program-II (SERP-II).

In the meeting World Bank has committed to support Education is Sindh by providing USD 300 million for next four years.

WB appreciated Government’s efforts on SERP-I, especially Senior Minister’s efforts and leadership for the reform program.

WB has agreed to continue Teachers recruitment, School specific budgets, Management Reforms, school construction.

Senior Minister for Education has also highlighted the Government’s efforts for education like establishment of STEDA, development of Geographical Information System (GIS).

On the recommendation of WB team Senior Minister for Education also issued some immediate directives to align the reforms with government efforts.
