Sharjeel Inam Memon issues legal notice to Dawn News channel

Karachi, May 29, 2015 (PPI-OT): Sindh Minister for Information Sharjeel Inam Memon has issued legal notice to Dawn News channel for telecasting baseless and false story against him and advised the channel to tender unconditional apology and regret on channel within 14 days of this act otherwise he will file Rs two billion legal suit and case as well against the channel.

The lawyer of the Minister issued this notice to CEO of Dawn News and stated that his client is a well reputed, law abiding educated citizen. He is also elected member of the provincial assembly and servicing as minister in Sindh. The notice stated that Dawn News telecasted a baseless and concocted story on 29 May and claimed that officials of sensitive agencies arrested Sharjeel Memon’s private secretary and recorded his statement.

The lawyer stated that this false news not only damaged the reputation of Sharjeel Memon but also a clear violation of Pemra rules. The notice stated that neither there was raid conducted at the residence of Sharjeel Memon nor his private secretary was arrested. The Lawyer stated that Dawn News must be apology unconditionally and regret on channel within 14 days otherwise his client will be free to file Rs two billion legal deformation suit against the channel.
