Shawl calls for unfreezing of UN resolutions on Kashmir

London, January 06, 2013 (PPI-OT): Kashmir Centre London organised a function in connection with the Kashmiris’ Right to Self-determination Day. The function was presided over by Executive Director of the Kashmir Centre, Professor Nazir Ahmed Shawl, and the chief guest was Raja Faryad Khan, Editor Ausaf, London.

Others who attended the function included Barrister Abdul Majeed Tramboo, Chairman Kashmir Centre Brussels, Chaudhry Mohammed Shaban, advisor to Prime Minister Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Chaudhry Mohammed Khan, member AJK Council, Mahmood Riaz, former Cabinet Minister AJK, Raja Mohammed Ayub, President Advisory Council Kashmir Centre London, Sabir Hussain, Chief Coordinator Kashmir Centre London, Mohammed Ishaq, Chief Organiser All Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference, Rab Nawaz Subhani, President Muslim League Slough, Shoaib Nazish, Media Advisor Kashmir Centre London and Mohammed Saroop.

Professor Nazir Ahmed Shawl welcomed the participants and hailed the support of editor Ausaf in promoting the Signature Campaign launched by the Kashmir Centre London in the UK for a debate on Kashmir in the House of Commons.

He pleaded for unfreezing the UN resolutions on Kashmir. “The deteriorating situation in occupied Kashmir asks for an international initiative on Kashmir, he said, adding that the UN needed to launch its preventive diplomacy to bring to an end the massive human rights violations in the occupied territory.

Raja Faryad thanked the Kashmir Centre for honouring him and promised to continue highlighting the Kashmir cause and cooperating with the Kashmir Centre. Mohammed Ayub expressed gratitude to the guests for sparing their precious time and attending the function.
