Sindh cabinet decides to convene All Parties Conference

Karachi, June 23, 2013 (PPI-OT): Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah presided Sindh cabinet meeting to review law and order situation in the province. The meeting was attended by Sindh ministers Manzoor Wassan, Sharjeel Enam Memon,Dr Sikandar Mandhro, Sardar Ali Nawaz Khan Mahar, Makhdoom Jameel uz Zaman, Mir Hazar Kahn Bijarani and Provincial Adviser Syed Murad Ali Shah.

The cabinet meeting decided to tighten the security at all the jails especially in Karachi and Hyderabad. Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon while briefing the media persons about the Meeting at CM House said that Sindh cabinet discussed the ongoing violence of targeted killings and recent attack on Karachi jail late night on Saturday and decided to initiate consultations with the political parties and to expedite ongoing targeted action against criminals in the city.

Accompanied by PPP leader Waqar Mehdi, Information Minister said that Sindh cabinet decided to convene a multi-party conference to discuss and come up with a joint strategy on law and order situation in the city.

The government will consult with the political parties first and then decide the date of APC, he said, adding that opposition parties, who have been criticizing on the government, will come up with positive suggestions to maintain law and order in the Metropolis.

He informed that Sindh cabinet also decided to form a Joint Interrogation Team (JIT) to conduct inquiry into killing of MQM’s MPA Sajid Q and #61557;reshi. The JIT would comprise police, rangers, ISI and other officials of intelligence agencies for transparent inquiry. To prevent any untoward and terrorism act, the Sindh government has decided surprise snap checking in city, information minister said, appealing the people of Karachi to cooperate with the Law Enforcement agencies as such steps being taken for their security and safety. To a question about blockade of roads leading to CM and Governor Houses, Information minister said that security threats persisted in red-zone areas, so roads have been blocked as preventive measures.

He said that the officials of police and other law enforcement agencies briefed the cabinet about the hand-cracker hurled on Karachi central jail, were foiled by the security deployed at the jail. Following the attack on the jail, the Sindh Chief Minister directed the department to enhance the security at all the jails in Sindh province, besides the search operation would be launched in jails to recover mobile phones and other equipments from prisoners, which are not allowed under jail manual.

He said that police and rangers were given free hand to take action against criminals irrespective of their political affiliation as government treats the criminals as criminal. Minister for information Said that PPP government had arrested many high profile culprits involved in many killings.
