Karachi, June 06, 2016 (PPI-OT):Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has said that those who are talking about the division of Sindh are actually talking about disintegration of Pakistan. “Sindh is an old entity and it cannot be divided at any cost”. This he said while talking to newsmen at Younusabad where he laid foundation stone of Younusabad Bridge. He was accompanied by Provincial Minister Syed Nasir Shah, Commander Pakistan Fleet Vice Admiral Arifullah Hussaini, Commander Karachi Rear Admiral Farukh Ahmed, Commissioner Karachi Aijaz Ali Khan, Administrator KMC and other senior officers.
Replying to a question the chief minister said that Sindh was one of the oldest entity of the Subcontinent. It cannot be divided and the demands of its division would not be tolerated. “Those who are talking about division of Sindh are actually talking about division and disintegration of Pakistan and we have taken it seriously,” he said categorically.
He said that Sindh has the honour to have demanded creation of Pakistan much before the other provinces or states of the united India had called for. “The province which laid foundation stone of Pakistan is Sindh and now some people are unnecessarily talking about its division just to show their political importance,” he said and added “everyone knows it is not your politics but it is your frustration which comes out in your speeches.”
Syed Qaim Ali Shah expressing his surprise said that he (Dr Farooq Sattar) was using indecent language against him just to show that he was so courageous and strong leader. “Everyone knows this is not his courage but it is your indecent political character of mudslinging “.
Replying to a question, he said that he had already sanctioned Rs220 million for development works of the city. “I have also given special funds to provide 1200 free water tankers in the water-starved areas of Karachi,” he said. “It is our character that we envisage the schemes and plan, release funds, start work and then inform the public about the steps taken by PPP government for their convenience. Please stop this water politics,” he urged.
He said that the KMC has improved their performance. But it was not enough they have to further improve and strengthen itself. Earlier, the Chief Minister laid foundation stone of ‘Reconstruction of Younusabad Bridge at Hawksbay Y-junction’. The cost of this KMC project comes to Rs194.815 million and it would be completed within six months. The total length of the bridge and roads come to 1.7 Kilometre.
Commander Pakistan Fleet Vice Admiral Arifullah Hussaini, Commander Karachi Rear Admiral Farukh Ahmed received the Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah when he landed at Younusbabad. Just after inauguration of the bridge, the Naval Commanders led the chief minister to lay foundation stone of 500,000 gallon RO plant at Manora.
Commandant Pakistan Naval Academy Commander Fawad Amin Baig briefing the chief minister said that Manora was unique and historical island where fishermen community and Pakistan Navy live together. ‘This RO plant would not only provide drinking water to Naval society but it would cater to the needs of the rest of the population of Manora,” he said and added that it would further strengthen Military-Civilian relationship.
The chief minister also inaugurated Reed Bed Sewerage Water Treatment system where sewerage water was being treated in a natural way by flowing/crossing it through chambers of gravels on which marsh grass was planted. These plants and gravel absorb toxic and poisonous contents of the sewerage water and making it useful for vegetation. Through this treatment Karachi can be turned green.
Commander Pakistan Fleet Vice Admiral Arifullah Hussaini, Commander Karachi Rear Admiral Farrukh Ahmed and Captain Rizwan took the chief minister around their picture gallery where they showed him the historical pictures of PPP founder Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto when they had visited Pakistan Naval Academy at Manora during their tenure as prime ministers.
The chief minister also visited PNA museum, particularly the Pakistan Navy Submarine Force gallery. The chief minister in his concluding remarks lauded the role of Pakistan Navy in the national defence and also said that Pakistan Navy was playing an important role to develop the areas in their locality and supporting the civilian in their education and other services. ‘I would be supporting you because you are serving the nation,” he said.
