Johannesburg, Feb. 22, 2014 — CENTRE for African Journalists (CAJ News), the Pan African’s largest news service provider has signed a two-year contract with Asianet-Pakistan.
CAJ News Editor-In-Chief and Chief Executive, Savious Kwinika confirmed on Friday saying the partnership takes effect on March 1.
“We (CAJ News) are pleased with this latest development. We have been humbled by one of Asia’s largest news agencies to sign a lucrative deal with us which will run for two years.
“As Africa’s premier news service provider, we promise to continue giving our clients the best service from across the continent.
“I’m so excited, so humbled that the deal comes at a time we have increased our presence in the continent from 16 to 22 countries, a development which has made CAJ News by far the largest Pan African news service provider in the continent,” Kwinika said.
AsianetNet-Pakistan (Pvt) Ltd Chairman, Owais Aslam Ali, said Asianet-Pakistan was delighted to enter into a worldwide distribution arrangement with CAJ News.
Ali said the arrangement would ensure that CAJ News’ content about Africa would be available worldwide to all leading database, universities, think tanks as well as corporate and academic libraries.
“The arrangement will greatly facilitate keeping international stakeholders informed of vital information relating to African governments, mining, ICT industry, financial institutions, construction & mining industry, aviation, municipalities, energy sectors.
“CAJ joins the prestigious group of over 200 publications and news services from Africa, Asia, Middle-East, Europe and Americas that partner with Asianet-Pakistan to ensure prompt worldwide availability of their editorial content,” said Ali.
CAJ News, which in early January established its two international Bureaus in Beijing, China and Moscow in Russia will establish other Bureaus in New Delhi (India) and Rio de Janeiro in Brazil ahead of the 2014 World in June.
Kwinika paid tribute to his team of specialised reporters and correspondents throughout Africa for doing the best, particularly the journalists in Nigeria and Kenya, who at times cover the Boko Haram and Al-Shabaab in volatile situations.
“I would like to thank my editorial teams, mainly South Africa, Nigeria and Kenya for standing by CAJ News despite some harsh economic conditions coupled with competition from international news vendors.
“As a Christian, I strongly believe if God is on our side, nothing can defeat us despite tough environment,” Kwinika said.
