Special Envoy of Malaysia calls on the Prime Minister

Islamabad: Dr. Datuk Seri Samy Vielu, Special Envoy of the Malaysian Prime Minister, called on Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Raza Gilani at the PM’s House today and expressed the Malaysian firms’ keen interests to invest in Pakistan especially in the fields of energy and infrastructure for which the lucrative opportunities exist in the country.

The Prime Minister said that Pakistan was an attractive destination for foreign investors and would be happy to invite them to become partners in building the country’s infrastructure.

The Prime Minister asked the Envoy to render help in building the motorway between Hyderabad and Multan and from Rattodero to Multan, which would connect the whole of the country through Motorway network to a large extent. The building of Motorway between Faisalabad and Multan was already underway, the Prime Minister said.

The Special Envoy of Malaysia said that he would discuss the proposal of tapping into the Thar coal reserves with the Australian experts who had developed the latest technological know-how to exploit typical coal reserves on profitable basis.

The Special Envoy conveyed the best regards of the Malaysian Prime Minister to the Prime Minister of Pakistan. Prime Minister Gilani asked the Envoy to convey his best wishes to his Malaysian counterpart, adding that he was looking forward to his visit to Pakistan.

Present on the occasion were Minister for Water and Power Syed Naveed Qamar, Minister for Communications Dr Arbab Alamgir, Chairman of Board of Investment Mr. Saleem H. Mandiwala and senior officials of the relevant Ministries.

The Malaysian side consisted of H.E. Dato Ahmad Anwer Adan, Malaysian High Commissioner to Pakistan, Mr. Ahmad Amiri Abu Baker, Head of Chancery, Mr. N. Selvanayagam, Mr. Mohd Nasir Hassan.
