U.S. Special Envoy for Climate Change Dr. Jonathan Pershing will travel October 10-11 to Austin, Texas to participate in the South by Southwest Eco Conference. This conference brings together cutting-edge business leaders, policy makers, innovators, and designers to advance solutions that drive social, economic, and environmental change.
Special Envoy Pershing will speak on a panel exploring how public institutions can work with the private sector to address challenges involved in scaling up climate finance and accelerating the transition to a clean energy economy. He will also join a panel with Austin Mayor Steve Adler and international urban sustainability directors in the United States on the Our Cities, Our Climate exchange program � a Bloomberg Philanthropies and U.S. State Department Partnership � to discuss the important role of cities in addressing the climate challenge. The discussion will explore how local leaders around the world are innovating and collaborating to reduce emissions and build climate-resilient communities.
