– People From More Than 20 Countries Have “Become Swiss”

The Swiss mountain village of Obermutten is creating a stir worldwide with its promise of ensuring that every one of its new Facebook fans is posted on the Commune’s official notice board. TV stations and newspapers in many countries have reported the event. The tiny village in the Graubuenden tourist region has been on Facebook for a little more than a week – and has already got 40 times more fans than inhabitants. People from more than 20 countries and three continents, from America to South Korea, have already “become Swiss”. Commune President, Martin Wyss, has therefore decided, due to this wave of global popularity, to continue the initiative.

“The feedback is enormous. People from all over the world have “become Swiss” here. We have therefore decided to extend our promise to the end of this year. However, because of the poor weather forecasts, we have had to find another notice board solution”, admits Martin Wyss, President of the Commune of Obermutten. The Fans will be posted on the village notice board with their name and picture.

Our promise remains the same: everybody who goes to http://www.facebook.com/obermutten and clicks on “Like”, appears within a week with their photo on the Commune’s official notice board. In this way, the fans become part of the village community and the 80 inhabitants can get to know their fans.

In video messages, the Commune President communicates with his fans on a personal level and the fans can find their very own photos on the notice board.

Obermutten is a partner in Graubuenden Tourism’s “Graubuenden, my mountain village” programme.
