Anti Narcotics Force seizes 5.18 tons of drugs worth Rs 12.48 in 11 successful operations, arrested 2 ladies among 11 and seized 2 vehicles

Islamabad, August 31, 2015 (PPI-OT): ANF carried out 10 successful operations at different parts of the country and recovered huge cache of narcotics worth Rs 12.48 Billion approximately in International Market. The seized drugs included 5.17 Ton Charas, 10 Kg Heroin and 3 Kg Opium, while arrested 11 drug offenders including 2 ladies and impounded 2 vehicles. Most of the recovered drugs were destined abroad.

ANF Quetta in an intelligence led operation seized 5166 Kg Charas (Garda) from uninhabited area of Tehsil Gulistan, District QiIla Abdullah. According to details, the drug consignment comprised 101 plastic sacks, each containing 51 Kg of Charas. The drug was stocked at a desolate site situated in the cuttings of mountainous terrain far away from the populated area.

As per initial information, the drug was placed at a cache site for handing over to another narcotics gang. On receipt of safe signal, the drug consignment was to be shifted to a some safe location at coastal belt of Baluchistan and, later on, it was to be smuggled abroad via sea route.

ANF Rawalpindi Airport Team detained a passenger Bahadur resident of Kurram Agency at Benazir Bhutto International Airport on suspicious of carrying Heroin filled capsules. During interrogation, he confessed of having gulped Heroin filled capsules. He was to board for Dubai by Air Blue Flight No. PA-210.

ANF Rawalpindi Road Check Team on pursuance of an information, intercepted a Suzuki Alto Car Registered No. IDN-6021 on Tarki Toll Plaza, near Sohawa, GT Road Jhelum and recovered 3 Kg Charas from the car. An occupant of the car namely Muhammad Aziz resident of Dara Adam Khel was also arrested during the operation. As per initial investigations, the Charas was being smuggled to Punjab for local consumption.

ANF Rawalpindi in an operation conducted at Bara Kahoo, Islamabad, arrested a local drug supplier identified as Amir Shahzad resident of Murree. His arrest resulted in recovery of 1 Kg Heroin and 1 Kg Charas, which were concealed in his luggage. ANF Lahore Road Check Team while acting on a source information, arrested 3 drug peddlers including 2 ladies and their male accomplice near Quaidabad, Sargodha Road, Khushab and recovered 2.5 Kg Heroin from their personal possession.

ANF Lahore intercepted a UK destined parcel containing ladies purse at Sky Net World Wide Express Lahore and recovered 0.400 Kg Heroin concealed in it. ANF Peshawar Road Check Team intercepted a Rawalpindi bound passenger van near Motorway Toll Plaza, Peshawar and arrested Niaz Parwana and Arshad Khan, residents of Peshawar. Detailed search of the accused persons resulted in recovery of 2.4 Kg Charas. As per initial reports, they were heading towards Rawalpindi for delivery of drug to some local drug peddler.

ANF Peshawar Road Check Team intercepted a passenger coach near Motorway Toll Plaza, Peshawar and arrested a drug carrier namely Bashir Khan resident of Mohmand Agency along with 3 Kg Opium. ANF Peshawar Road Check Team intercepted a Toyota Corolla car at KDA Road Kohat and recovered 6 Kg Heroin concealed in secret cavities of the vehicle. Driver of the vehicle namely Hasiat Ali resident of Kohat was arrested at the spot.

ANF Karachi apprehended a local drug supplier named Atta Hussain Shah resident of Shikarpur from Abdu Goth, Shikarpur and recovered 2 Kg Charas from his personal possession. All cases have been registered at respective ANF Police stations and further investigation is underway.

Drug abuse exacerbates juvenile crime rates and fosters low educational achievements: Major General Khawar Hanif

Islamabad, August 26, 2015 (PPI-OT): On 26th Aug 2015, ANF hosted a conference at Best Western Hotel, Islamabad to formulate joint mechanism against narcotics and drug abuse in Academic Institutions. The purpose of the conference was to devise a mutual framework in collaboration with educational institutions to protect the youth from the menace of drugs. The conference was chaired by DG ANF Major General Khawar Hanif and attended by International Partners, NCD, Ministry of Health, Federal Directorate of Education, Heads / Representatives of Universities, Medical Colleges, Leading School Systems, Academic Institutions, Psychologists and Psychiatrists.

In his opening address, DG ANF welcomed all the participants and highlighted importance of the forum in implementing the vision of “Drug Free Society” since the educators play the most important role in children’s’ lives as mentors, and cumulatively nation builders. He said that the magnitude of drugs as a threat to human security is far more serious than meets the eye. Drugs are silently killing far people than terrorism and rendering millions useless to the society; youth being most vulnerable to this menace.

Drug abuse exacerbates juvenile crime rates and fosters low educational achievements. Government efforts alone cannot address drug-spread in educational institutions, as it is basically a societal setback emerged from feeble social-bond, fuelled by peer pressure, low self-esteem, stress, frustration, curiosity and communal surrounds.

Further he told that drug threat to students can effectively be addressed by dedicated and involved faculty, since students respond more to teachers than parents. He expressed that; there is a dire need to devise a workable cogent strategy to counter narcotics prevalence, which is creeping gradually in and around our academic institutions. He emphasized that whole nation approach is inevitable for success in this challenging venture.

Thereafter Force Commander North Brigadier Muhammad Ramzan Gill presented an Overview of the prevalent Drug Environment. The presentation was followed by discussion on agenda points of conference, which mainly focused on devising joint mechanism, areas of cooperation, reasons of addiction, remedial measures, effective control and nomination of focal persons.

The participants proffered a number of invaluable suggestions that included; declaring educational institutions as smoke-free zone, incorporate security cameras for addict profiling, employ psychiatrist / psychologist in institutions, confidential sharing of information with ANF, organize mentors training drug-workshops, launching drug-awareness campaigns in institutions, strengthen student-teacher, student-parents and teacher-parents bonds, incorporate drug-awareness lessons in curriculum, provide extra-curricular opportunities for students, ensure playgrounds / sports for students, medical screening of suspected students, role of student literary societies in anti-drug campaigns, inward vigilance of educational institutions and ANF support to address external drug threat in institutions.

Later part of the conference focused on discussion for adoption of a consented mechanism. It mainly homed on constituting a committee from amongst the representatives, to mutually formulate a workable plan, within whose parameters educational institutions can evolve their respective policies. Furthermore, emphasis was laid for nomination of Focal Persons from every institution.

Force Commander North, Brigadier Muhammad Ramzan Gill was appointed as focal person of ANF. All the participants were requested to carry out due consideration and communicate names of Committee Members and Focal Persons to ANF. He also expressed is expectation from international partners for support and capacity building in this regard.

DG ANF Major General Khawar Hanif in his concluding remarks thanked all the participants for their valuable contributions during discussion. He affirmed ANF’s commitment to render all possible help to educational institutions, relentlessly pursue dismantling of all Drug Trafficking Organizations operating in and around educational institutions and to leave no stone unturned in protecting our society from the menace of drugs.

Anti Narcotics Force seizes 2.6 tons of drugs worth Rs 3.4 billion and arrest 2 ladies among 8 involved in drug trafficking in 5 countrywide operations

Islamabad, August 25, 2015 (PPI-OT): ANF in 5 operations, seized huge quantity of drugs worth Rs 3.4 Billion approximately in International Market. The seized drugs included 2.6 Ton Opium and 8.7 Kg Hashish. The operations also resulted in arrest of 8 persons including 2 ladies involved in drug trafficking and impounded a vehicle. Most of the seized drugs were intended to be smuggled abroad.

ANF Quetta launched a successful intelligence led operation at Qilla Abdullah and seized 2597 Kg Opium. According to details, drug consignment was hidden at a desolate site situated in the area of Killi Sheikh Haji, Tehsil and District Qilla Abdullah. Opium was packed in 82 fruit boxes, each containing 31-32 Kg Opium. According to preliminary information, drug was placed for handing over to another narcotics gang for further disposal. The drug consignment was to be shifted at some safe location at costal belt, and later on, it was to be dispatched to some foreign destination across the sea.

ANF Rawalpindi while acting on a source information, arrested a local drug supplier named Noor Ahmed Khan and recovered 1.5 Kg Hashish from his personal possession. He was arrested in an operation conducted near Karachi Hotel, Pirwadhai Bus Stand, Rawalpindi.

ANF Peshawar Road Check Team intercepted a Rawalpindi bound passenger van near Motorway Toll Plaza, Peshawar and arrested 2 lady drug carriers along with 2.4 Kg Opium and 7.2 Kg Hashish, which was concealed in their luggage. The accused were identified as Anam Ishfaq and Nazia Parveen, residents of Islamabad.

ANF Peshawar in another operation near PSO Petrol Pump, Ring Road, Peshawar, captured a Toyota Corolla Car Registered No.QB-685 and recovered 450 Gram Cocaine from occupants of the car, identified as Malik Khan, Sardar Alam, Jamshed Khan and Mukthar, all residents of Khyber Agency.

Yet in another operation, ANF Peshawar Airport Team during routine profiling at Peshawar Airport, detained a passenger named Adam Khan resident of Peshawar who confessed of having Heroin filled capsules in his belly. The accused was boarding for Dubai by Air Blue Airline Flight No.PA-610. All cases have been registered at respective ANF Police Stations and further investigation is under way.

Anti Narcotics Force foil cases for smuggling drugs of Rs 686 million recovered 92 Kilograms heroin, 40 Kilograms charas, arrests 16 smugglers and seizes 3 vehicles

Islamabad, August 23, 2015 (PPI-OT):ANF thwarted several attempts to smuggle drugs during 11 countrywide operations conducted at various cities of the country and seized 132.6 Kg drugs worth Rs 686 Million approximately in International Market. The seized drugs included 92 Kg Heroin and 40.6 Kg Charas. ANF also detained 16 persons including 2 ladies involved in drug trafficking, while impounded 3 vehicles. Most of the seized drugs were intended to be dispatched at foreign destinations.

According to details, ANF Karachi Sea Port Team carried out a successful intelligence led operation and intercepted a shipment containing water dispensers at International Container Terminal, Port Qasim, Karachi. During thorough search of the shipment, recovered 86 Kg Heroin concealed inside the 43 water dispensers.

The shipment was destined for Ivory Coast. Three suspected persons suspected to be involved in the crime were also taken into custody. ANF Rawalpindi Airport Team on pursuance of an intelligence report, conducted an operation at car parking area of Benazir Bhutto International Airport, Islamabad and detained a passenger namely Muhammad Zulqarnain Sohail resident of Faisalabad. Detailed search of his luggage resulted in recovery of 6 Kg Heroin. Heroin was concealed in a trolley bag. The accused intended to take off for Abidjan (Ivory Coast) via Qatar by Qatar Airline Flight No.QR 617.

ANF Rawalpindi during routine checking near Varan Bus Stand, Adam Jee Road, Rawalpindi Cantt, stopped a Suzuki Mehran Car Registered No. LEB-9281 and recovered 3 Kg Charas during the search of the car. Two individuals on board named Jibran Masih and Oom Parkash, both residents of Rawalpindi were taken into custody. As per initial reports, they were involved in supply of drugs at local level.

ANF Rawalpindi Road Check Team on pursuance of an information, seized a Suzuki Pickup Registered No. W-3463 Peshawar at Fatejang Motorway Interchange, Tehsil Fatehjang, Attock and recovered 7 Kg Charas from the vehicle. According to information, drug was being supplied to nearby areas for local consumption. An accused namely Sajid Khan (driver of the vehicle) resident of Khyber Agency was arrested at the spot.

ANF Rawalpindi Team while acting on an intelligence report intercepted a Hiace Van Registered No. LES 4703 near Ghousia Bus Stand, Pirwadhai More, GT Road Rawalpindi. Detailed search of the vehicle led recovery of 7 Kg Charas concealed in it. Four accused named Noor Ahmed (a technician at PAF Chaklala), Inam-ul-Haq (cashier in Resource Management Centre Islamabad), Wahid Muhammad (driver of the vehicle) and Jalal (helper) were apprehended during the operation. As per preliminary investigations, Charas was transported from KPK and was intended to be delivered to some local drug peddlers at Rawalpindi.

ANF Rawalpindi Team seized a consignment comprising small tables at Al-Zohaib Cargo office Airport Road, Rawalpindi and recovered 250 Gram Heroin concealed inside the consignment. As per details the consignment was booked by Muhammad Afzal resident of Gujrat and was intended to be received by an individual named Haider Ali residing at Litton, England. ANF Lahore while intercepting a consignment consisting of 2 cartons of menu catalogues at an office of the local courier service company based at Lahore, recovered Heroin tactfully concealed inside the coating of the pages of said catalogues.

Exact quantity of the drug is yet to be determined. As per information, the consignment was booked by a resident of Mansehra named Chan Pir and was destined for Maldives. ANF Lahore, Sialkot Team raided a bus stop near PSO Petrol Pump, Gujranwala Road, Daska, Sialkot and arrested a local drug supplier along with 4 Kg Charas concealed in his luggage.

ANF Peshawar Road Check Team while acting on a tip-off arrested 2 lady drug carriers namely Kauser and Anie and recovered 14.4 Kg Charas from their personal possession. Charas was concealed in their luggage. They were arrested near main motorway toll plaza, Peshawar while travelling on a passenger van bound for Rawalpindi.

ANF Peshawar Road Check Team searched a passenger van near Kacha Pakka, Kohat and arrested an accused namely Said Janan resident of Khyber Agency along with 8.4 Kg Charas. Reportedly, drug was being transported to Punjab for local use. ANF Karachi in an operation conducted in the area of Siraj colony, Nazimabad, Karachi and recovered 3.8 Kg Charas from a local drug paddler named Muhammad Rafique. All cases have been registered at respective police stations and further investigations are under process.

Anti Narcotics Force seizes 62 Kg drugs in 6 operations, arrest 5 among foreign nationals and a lady smuggler, impound 2 vehicles

Islamabad, August 17, 2015 (PPI-OT): ANF recovered 60 Kg Charas and 2.23 Kg Heroin while launching 6 operations at different cities. The worth of the seized drugs is Rs. 158 Million (15 Crore 80 Lac) approximately in International Market. The operations also resulted in arrest of 5 persons including a Nigerian national and a lady drug carrier, and impounding of 2 vehicles.

ANF Rawalpindi Airport Team during routine profiling at Benazir Bhutto International Airport, Islamabad, detained a Nigerian national named Admoyegun Sunday on suspicion of carrying drugs. During interrogation, the accused confessed of having ingested Heroin filled capsules. He was shifted to Benazir Shaheed Hospital, Rawalpindi for recovery of Heroin capsules. The accused intended to board for Nigeria via Istanbul by Turkish Airline Flight No.TK-711.

ANF Rawalpindi Team in another operation conducted near Tarnol Railway Gate, GT Road, Rawalpindi, arrested a local drug supplier namely Muhammad Naeem and seized Heroin weighing 2 Kg from his personal possession.

Yet in another operation, ANF Rawalpindi Team while acting on a tip-off raided at Ghousia Bus Stand, Pirwadhai Mor, Rawalpindi and arrested a lady drug carrier named Yasmin Bibi along with 1 Kg Charas concealed in her luggage. The lady arrived here from Peshawar to deliver drugs to a local peddler at Rawalpindi.

ANF Peshawar Road Check Team on pursuance of a source information, intercepted a Suzuki Pothohar Jeep near New Toll Plaza, Indus Highway, Kohat. Search of the vehicle led to recovery of 30 Kg Charas, which was concealed in secret cavities created under the floor of the jeep. An occupant of the jeep, named Olas Khan resident of Khyber Agency was taken into custody at the spot.

In another operation launched near New Toll Plaza Indus Highway Kohat, ANF Peshawar Road Check Team, stopped a suspected car Suzuki Liana and recovered 28.8 Kg Charas during the search of the car. Drug was concealed inside the improvised cavities of the car. A person on board named Muzamil Khan resident of Orakzai Agency was also caught during the operation.

ANF Karachi Team seized a UK bound parcel from TCS office Karachi and recovered 230 Gram Heroin tactfully concealed inside 8 cricket balls. The seized parcel was booked from sub office Sialkot. All cases have been registered at respective police stations and further investigations are under process.

Anti Narcotics Force seizes 32 Kg heroin, 90 Kg charas and 2100 litre Acetic Anhydride in 14 operations

Islamabad, August 10, 2015 (PPI-OT): ANF launched 14 operations at various cities of the country, recovering 32 Kg Heroin, 90 Kg Charas and 2100 Litre Acetic Anhydride (a prohibited material). The operations also resulted in arrest of 24 drug offenders including a Nigerian national and seizure of 9 vehicles. The worth of recovered drugs is approximately Rs 436 Million (43 Crore 60 Lac) in International Market.

According to details, ANF Rawalpindi on pursuance of an information, intercepted a Corolla Car Registered No. BA-542 near Kohinoor Mills, GT Road, Rawalpindi and recovered 6 Kg Heroin from the car. Two persons on board including Umair Khan and a Nigerian national named Celestine were taken into custody. As per initial investigations, the seized drug was destined abroad.

ANF Rawalpindi while acting on a tip-off, raided a house in Line No. 9, Gulistan Colony, Rawalpindi and apprehended 4 drug suppliers namely Muhammad Nooh Khan, Sohail Irshad, Wajahat Manzoor and Wajahat Ahmed. Their arrest resulted in recovery 8 Kg Heroin.

ANF Rawalpindi Road Check Team captured a Toyota Corolla Car Registered No. NA-041-ICT near Pirwadhai More, Rawalpindi and arrested 2 occupants of the car namely Abdullah Jan resident of Peshawar and his lady accomplice Nayyar Sultana resident of Chakwal along with recovery of 1 Kg Heroin and 2 Kg Charas.

ANF Rawalpindi Road Check Team raided near Kalar Syedan Chowk, Main GT Road, Rawalpindi and arrested a local drug peddler named Mukhtar Khan resident of Rawalpindi along with 1.2 Kg of Charas, which was found in his personal possession.

ANF Lahore Team captured a Car No LWQ-5907 near Kalma Chowk, Lahore, recovering 11.8 kg Heroin from the car. Three drug carriers Salman Khan resident of Quetta, Naseeb Khan resident of Khyber Agency and Muhammad Shafiq Afridi resident of Islamabad were held during the operation.

ANF Lahore Team while acting on an information seized a Suzuki Car Registered No. RNC-58 near Mianwali City and recovered 3 Kg Charas concealed in it. Three persons identified as Aswad Aamir resident of Peshawar, Syed Mumtaz Ali and Umar Hayat, both residents of Sargodha were taken into custody. As per reports, Charas was being transported to Punjab.

ANF Lahore Team raided near Niazi Bus Stand, Bund Road, Lahore and arrested 2 accused persons along with a vehicle. During search of the vehicle, 6 Kg of Charas recovered from their personal possession. ANF Peshawar Road Check Team intercepted a Suzuki Pickup near Pindi Bypass Road Kohat and recovered 6 Kg Charas. During the operation, an accused namely Abdul Manan was also arrested.

ANF Peshawar Road Check Team during search of a Toyota Hiace No TL-783 near New Toll Plaza, Indus Highway, Kohat, recovered 57.6 Kg Charas hidden in secret cavities made under the floor of the car. An accused on board namely Zar Wali resident of Landi Kotal was also taken in to custody.

ANF Peshawar Road Check Team intercepted a Car Honda Civic No LOF-5197 near Darband Road, Oggi Bazaar, Mansehra and recovered 9.6 Kg Charas from the car. Two accused namely Abid Jan resident of Charsada and Sartaj Khan resident of Mansehra were also arrested during the operation. ANF Peshawar recovered 5 kg Heroin from personal possession of an accused Muhammad Ashraf Qureshi resident of Multan in an operation conducted near Lahore Bus Stand, Peshawar.

ANF Peshawar carried out a raid near Hangu Phatak, Kohat and arrested a drug carrier named Muhammad Ullah resident of Kurram Agency along with 1.2 Kg of Charas. ANF Karachi Team raided narcotics den being run at Pathan Colony, Hyderabad and seized 3.2 Kg Charas, also arresting a drug local peddler Khair Muhammad resident of Sanghar.

ANF Baluchistan in an intelligence led operation, seized a Suzuki Pickup (without Registration No) parked unattended near Akhtarabad, Hazarganji, Western Bypass, Quetta, containing 2100 Litres of Acetic Anhydride. Cases have been registered against all the detainees at respective police stations and further investigations are under process.

Anti Narcotics Force arrest a Passenger at Multan International airport after recovering one kilogram of good quality heroin from his possession

Multan, August 06, 2015 (PPI-OT): Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) on Thursday arrested a Passenger at Multan International airport after recovering one kilogram of good quality heroin from his possession. He had concealed the heroin in the secret pockets of a bag. Official sources said that Airport security Force staff during the briefing of Fly Dubai flight FZ-340 checked a bag owned by Muhammad Irshad son of Abdul Jabbar Chauhan Resident of Chak No. 319-EB Burewala (Vehari district).

During scanning ASF found some shades all around the bag after that they opened the sealed sides of the bag and found one kg of heroin. The passenger was leaving for Dubai from where he planned to go to London, sources said. ANF officials arrested the suspect and began investigating the incident.
