KARCPP to fund clean drinking water projects for flood-hit Punjab and Sindh

Islamabad, December 31, 2012 (PPI-OT): King Abdullah’s Relief Campaign for Pakistani People (KARCPP), will provide funds amounting to US$ 120,000 to Helping Hand for relief and development projects including installation of water pumps for hospitals, mosques and local community living in Punjab and Sindh flood-affected areas.

These water projects include drilling of 100 wells along with the installation of a water pumps, 24 water purification plants with the capacity of 50 gallons per day and the installation of 2 water filtration plants having capacity of 200 gallons per hour.

These water schemes are being initiated on the directives of HRH Prince Naif bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud to help Pakistani people affected by floods during the year 2010 and 2011. Earlier, an MoU of a similar project for Balochistan was also signed between KARCPP and UNICEF.

According to the Regional Director KARCPP, Dr. Khalid M. Al-Othmani, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), has already been signed in Riyadh between KARCPP and UNICEF to provide maximum relief to the people affected by floods that hit many parts of Balochistan province. The rehabilitation projects which will be initiated in 10 districts of Balochistan include 76 clean drinking water supply schemes. These water facilities were damaged during the 2010 floods.

King Abdullah’s Relief Campaign for Pakistani People (KARCPP), will provide funds amounting to US$ 1.6 million to UNICEF for clean drinking water to benefit nearly 84,000 people living in flood-hit areas of Balochistan. All the donation and help provided by Saudi Government and the people of Kingdom, is being utilized transparently for improving the lives of the flood-affected people of Pakistan.
