Metropolitan Commissioner takes stern action on poor recovery

Karachi, November 24, 2015 (PPI-OT): Metropolitan Commissioner Samiuddin Siddiqui has while expressing intense annoyance on the poor recovery condition in KMC directed to show cause notice to all departmental heads except for the Estate Department. Speaking in a departmental heads meeting held in Civic Centre on Tuesday, he urged the officers to bring improvement in their performance.

“Being deputed in an organization associated to the provision of municipal services to citizens the KMC officers must work for betterment in the financial condition of the organization”, he said. The Metropolitan Commissioner called it unfortunate that except of Estate department on other department in KMC was achieving its revenue target neither they give any valid reason for this.

He said the performance of officers of revenue departments was not satisfactory and this could not be tolerated, that’s why strict departmental action was being taken against such officers. Metropolitan Commissioner directed legal adviser to take immediate measures for resolving the cases of various departments pending in the court of law.

He also instructed the food and quality control department to use a speedy and effective method for improving the recovery condition so that the revenue target for current year could be achieved. He said the recovery condition will be completely monitored and two to three meetings in this connection will be held each month to review the performance of revenue departments of KMC.

Karachi Metropolitan Corporation removes encroachments from New M.A Jinnah Road and Stadium Road

Karachi, November 05, 2015 (PPI-OT): The anti encroachments department of KMC on Wednesday carried out an operation against encroachments alongside New M.A Jinnah road and Stadium road on Wednesday during which it removed many cabins, counters, puncture shops, pushcarts and other such encroachments from the main road and pavement and clear the way for vehicular traffic.

The vehicle show room owners were also warned to refrain from parking their vehicles on main road or pavement or these would be seized. The action was taken by anti encroachment staff under the supervision of senior director Bilal Manzar whereas the Addl. Director Kamran Abbas, Deputy Director Syed Azhar Abbas and other officers were also present on this occasion.

On this occasion the senior director said the action against encroachments was in accordance with the orders of the Supreme Court. He said the elimination of all sorts of encroachments anywhere in the city was going on speedily and would continue till the removal of all encroachments.

Local Taxes Department removes signage

Karachi, November 05, 2015 (PPI-OT): In compliance of the orders passed by the Supreme Court of Pakistan, the local taxes department of KMC removed 12 hoardings, 148 pole signs and 150 banners/steamers in different areas of the city from 19th October to 4th November 2015. The local taxes staff removed 12 hoardings from Express way in Akhtar Colony, 98 pole sign from Sharae Faisal limits, 22 pole sign from Sher Shah Suri road, 20 pole sign from Shah faisal zone from Shama Centre to Korangi Bridge, 8 pole sign from University road and 150 banners/steamers within the limits of KMC.

Anti encroachments staff takes action near Askari Park and from Water pump to Karimabad flyover

Karachi, November 05, 2015 (PPI-OT): The anti encroachments department of KMC on Thursday removed many encroachments while taking action near Askari Park and from Water pump to Karimabad flyover. The operation was carried out in the supervision of senior director anti encroachments Bilal Manzar along with other officers and staff.

This may be noted that action against encroachments on main road and pavement in the above cited areas had been carried out by KMC on regular basis to save the people and traffic from troubles due to existence of encroachments. The anti encroachments squad seized all the apparatus of encroachers including the cabins, counters, tables, stoves, chairs, pipes machines and other items and deposited it in the KMC store.

Administrator Karachi suggest strict action against negligent officials

Karachi, September 27, 2015 (PPI-OT): KMC Administrator Sajjad Hussain Abbasi has while taken strict notice of inappropriate sanitation condition in district central recommended suspension of service of the district municipal commissioner, health officer and chief sanitary inspector and issuance of show cause notice to the administrator of DMC Central.

Talking to media representatives at Peoples Chowrangi during his detailed visit of city on Sunday he said that he was visiting the city since last three days and the district central municipal administration was repeatedly warned for slow pace of offal lifting and disposal work but the concerned administration remained failed to do so.

He said as a result of this not only heaps of garbage and domestic waste were seen laid in the whole area but offal of sacrificial animals also put there which causes trouble for citizens. Therefore the Sindh Government specially the minister for local government was approached with the recommendation of stern disciplinary action against the officials who were failed in doing the public service works satisfactorily on which the minister for local government issued the directive for action against these officials.

Municipal bodies lift and bury record offal this year: Administrator Karachi

Karachi, September 27, 2015 (PPI-OT): KMC Administrator Sajjad Hussain Abbasi has announced to launch a week long cleanliness campaign in the city from Monday. While declaring emergency in municipal bodies he said this year more sacrifices were made than anticipated on Eid-ul-Azha and the municipal organizations lifted and buried over 1.2million offal in the first two days of Eid which is a record if compared to past.

Talking to media representatives during a visit of the city on third day of Eid he said all municipal leadership including KMC Administrator was on roads since last four days. Some complaints were received about non compliance of the DMCs complaints centers and action was being taken against them. He said directives were issued for lodging F.I.R against the sanitary inspectors or other staff which was found involved in dumping the offal outside of trenches.

Administrator Karachi said more than 3 thousand complaints were received in the first two days of Eid which had been resolved on the same day. Some problems were created due to more than anticipated sacrifices but KMC and DMCs controlled the situation with mutual coordination and the sanitation condition was remained well except for a few areas where additional manpower and vehicles were deputed to improve the situation.

“It needed some time to lift and dispose off 14 to 15 Lac offal on immediate basis for which we made all efforts to do this work speedily” he said Administrator Sajjad Abbasi said the Governor of Sindh Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ebad visited the city on the first day of Eid and the provincial minister for local government also monitored the whole operation whereas I am also visiting city and have gone to different areas.

He said the usual garbage removal and disposal was also done along with this operation and we have decided to observe cleanliness week from Monday till next Sunday during which the leaves of staff in KMC and DMCs will be cancelled and cleanliness work will be performed on emergency basis in each district of Karachi. Administrator Karachi said the minister for local government and the chief minister Sindh would also pay a visit of city and inspect the cleanliness conditions.

Metropolitan Commissioner takes stern notice of delay in payment of salaries of Education Department employees

Karachi, September 21, 2015 (PPI-OT): The Metropolitan Commissioner of KMC Samiuddin Siddiqui has while issuing directive of immediate suspension of service of Dr. Mohammad Farooq, the Senior Director Education Department and serving of show cause notice to him on account of delay in disbursement of salary of employees of Education Department, said all those employees of education department who observed punctuality in their duty and performed the work entrusted to them satisfactorily should not be worried.

During the negotiation with the agitating employees of education department in Civic Centre on Monday he assured them that they will get their salary before Eid-ul-Azha. While referring to the complaints of existence of ghost employees in education department he said an inquiry was underway in this connection and action will be taken against those employees whose appointment was found illegal or those who did not attend their duty punctually.

However, all those employees who attend their duty punctually would get their salary on time. On this assurance, the employees ended their agitation whereas the metropolitan commissioner directed the finance department to solve the issue of payment of education department’s staff salary without delay.
