Karachi, January 13, 2014 (PPI-OT): Mr. Zubair Ahmed Malik, President FPCCI said that there is still room for tremendous growth in bilateral trade with China. In a meeting with Chinese Ambassador H.E. Sun Weidong who visited FPCCI Head Office along with Consul General of China at Karachi.
The President FPCCI said that despite the fact that EU has granted GSP plus status to Pakistan, there is a lot of opportunity in all sectors of trade and commerce with China.
The trade between China and Pakistan is increasing day by day and it seems that the volume of this bilateral trade would cross US $ 15 billion by 2015.
Mr. Zubair Ahmed Malik, said that FPCCI is committed toward increasing interactions between the business communities of both the countries with the coordination of CCPIT, China for which our two representative offices are functional in Kunming and Chengdu.
On this occasion, Mr. Zakaria Usman, President (Elect.) of FPCCI also extended his warm welcome to the Ambassador and stated that FPCCI is actively engaged in several activities in China through different trade fairs and trade delegations which are organized throughout the year in China. Mr. Zakaria Usman said that we should focus on areas such as Textiles as there is great opportunity in this era where Pakistan is enjoying the GSP Plus status.
The Chinese ambassador H.E. Sun Weidong said that the trade and economic relations with Pakistan is very important for China. He said that last year the Chinese Premier met the Prime Minister of Pakistan and discussed the issues of bilateral trade and economic relationship between both the countries. He also discussed the economic corridor from Kashghar to Gawadar which will enhance the trade between China and Pakistan.
This economic corridor will change the socio-economic landscape of the region. The meeting was also attended by Vice Presidents of FPCCI Mr. Shaheen Sarwana, Mr. Gulzar Firoz, Mr. Naveed Jan Baloch and Chairman Pakistan China Business Council of FPCCI Mr. Mazhar Ali Nasir. The President FPCCI also presented a traditional crest of FPCCI to Chinese Ambassador.
