Thousands attend funeral of martyred youth in Islamabad town

Srinagar, May 29, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, thousands of people attended the funeral prayers of a martyred youth, Faisal Nazir, in Islamabad district. The troops martyred Faisal Nazir and another youth during a cordon and search operation in Kokernag area of the district, yesterday.

Defying strict restrictions imposed by the occupation authorities in Islamabad town, people flooded the KP Road area of the town to participate in the funeral prayers of Faisal Nazir. People in large numbers from neighbouring districts of Shopian and Kulgam also joined the funeral prayers of the martyred youth. The participants of the funeral raised high-pitched pro-freedom and anti-India slogans. Earlier, as the body of Faisal reached his home, his mother and father, Nazir Ahmed who is a policeman, burst into tears.

Meanwhile, the occupation authorities have suspended the class work in various educational institutes in Islamabad district. An official said that class work in Degree Colleges, Higher Secondary Schools, and coaching centres located in the towns of Islamabad and Bijbehara would remain suspended today on May 29, 2019.
