Trade and Investment Officers Posted Abroad visit FPCCI

Karachi, October 29, 2019 (PPI-OT): A delegation of 45 Trade and Investment Officers to be Posted abroad visited FPCCI for an orientation tour and interactive session with the businessmen and to get the knowledge of activities of FPCCI and its role in the economic development of Pakistan particularly in the promotion of trade, industry and investment.

While welcoming the officers, the President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) Engr. Daroo Khan Achakzai gave briefing on the activities of FPCCI at national and international level. He emphasized on the need of frequent interaction with the trade bodies which may help in removing the bottlenecks in improving the trade and investment climate, so as to establish joint ventures in mutually beneficial areas.

He focused on enhancing the interaction with the chambers and trade associations for exchange of delegations, participation in exhibitions that will help in exploring the untapped markets and exploiting unrealized potential of trade. He advised the trade officers to regularly send their economic survey reports highlighting potential sectors of joint ventures investment projects, export potential, bilateral trade potential and other bottleneck.

He informed the trade officers that FPCCI has Business Councils with almost all countries which need to be transformed into Joint Business Councils with the national chambers of the country of their posting. He advised them to play their due role in this regard so that FPCCI could have regular Joint Business Councils meetings with its foreign counterparts their recommendations could be tabled in the Joint Ministerial Meetings.

During the session, the delegates discussed about export and traditional and non-traditional markets. They also talked about the agreements signed by the FPCCI with their counterparts in different countries and role of trade officers in removal of tariff and non-tariff barriers. The identification of new markets and marketing of Pakistani products for enhancement of trade relations was also discussed. The interactive session was also attended by Sr. Vice President FPCCI Dr. Mirza Ikhtiar Baig and Secretary General Dr. Iqbal Thaheem.
