Turkish envoy assures full support to Economic Cooperation Organization Science Foundation

Islamabad, September 05, 2013 (PPI-OT): Economic Cooperation Organization Science Foundation (ECOSF) Founder President Prof. Dr. Manzoor H. Soomro and Turkish Ambassador His Excellency Mr. M. Babur Hizlan discussed areas of mutual interest here the other day..

The ECOSF President called on the Turkish Ambassador in the Embassy of Turkey in Islamabad. The visit was part of ECOSF President’s endeavours’ to move forward for achieving the goals / targets of ECOSF, the newly established regional organization.

The Turkish Ambassador extended a warm welcome to the President ECOSF on visiting the Turkish Embassy.

The ECOSF President briefed the Ambassador about plans, activities and objectives of ECOSF and sought Turkish Government’s cooperation to implement the work plan of ECOSF.

The Turkish Ambassador assured the ECOSF President of his full support to strengthen Turkey and ECOSF relations and undertake planned activities within the scope of already agreed priorities/ targets.

The President ECOSF stressed the need for studying possibilities of collaboration. He said in this regard the exchange of experiences could be the initial step between the ECOSF and the member state Turkey.

The Turkish Ambassador agreed with the view of the President ECOSF to explore ways and means to establish cooperation in the relevant fields. In this regard, the both sides agreed to intensify communication and coordination in future.

The ECOSF has been established as specialized agency of ECO and functions as a reservoir of highly skilled scientific and technical human resource and facilitates promotion of scientific research and development among the Member States. Prof. Dr. Manzoor H. Soomro has been entrusted / assigned to take the responsibilities of founder President of ECOSF with effect from June 3, 2013.

The direction and conduct of the ECOSF is vested in its Board of Trustees comprising the Ministers for Science and Technology of the Member States. The Board is currently chaired by the S and T Minister of Pakistan H.E. Mr. Zahid Hamid. Next meeting of the Board is scheduled in December 2013.
