United States’ envoy Olson Calls on Interior Minister Nisar Ali Khan

Islamabad, February 03, 2014 (PPI-OT): The Ambassador of United States of America to Pakistan, Mr. Richard Olson called on the Federal Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan here today.

Issues pertaining to bilateral relations with particular reference to the security situation in the region came under discussion during the meeting.

The Minister said that Pakistan wants to further strengthen its relations with the US based on mutual trust and transparency. He said Pakistan has an important role to play in the post-2014 scenario and hoped that the US will watch out the interests of Pakistan in regional security.

The US Ambassador expressed his satisfaction over the recently concluded fourth round of ministerial strategic dialogue which recently took place in Washington after a long gap.

He said it is a matter of satisfaction that a very positive interaction took place between the two delegations and the meeting exuded warmth and understanding of each other’s positions.

The Ambassador said the US shares Pakistan government’s vision for peace and we hope that this area enters an era of peace and progress at the earliest. He said the US has genuine interest in the progress and well being of Pakistan as articulated by Senator Kerry himself.
