Lahore, November 13, 2013 (PPI-OT): The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore and Punjab Agriculture and Meat Company (PAMCO) for collaboration in various academic, research, training programs.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha and PAMCO Chief Executive Officer Mumtaz Khan Manais signed the MoU. According to the agreement, the PAMCO will allow industry trainees to get hands-on training under the UVAS project entitled “Modular training program for meat industry”.
The UVAS will provide technical consultancy services to PAMCO in meat processing and carcass value addition. The undergraduate students will be allowed to do their internship at PAMCO to get hands-on experience. The PAMCO will also allow UVAS postgraduate students to conduct their research trials at PAMCO processing facilities.
Speaking on the occasion, the Vice-Chancellor said that the university in collaboration with the industry is working on capacity building of manpower in livestock, dairy, meat, fisheries, wildlife and related sectors.
He said that a new Department of Meat Science and Technology has been established to provide trained manpower to meat industry and conduct research in meat processing, packaging and value addition.
