Update on implementation of National Action Plan

Islamabad, January 30, 2015 (PPI-OT): In pursuance of the directions of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif the governments of all provinces as well as Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJ and K) and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) have provided following information regarding the implementation of the National Action Plan for combating terrorism and extremism since December 24, 2014:

Combing:

9074 operations have been conducted in Punjab, 1178 in Sindh, 2326 in KP, 30 in Balochistan 322 in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT), 503 in AJ and K, 16 in GB and 47 in FATA. During these operations 179309 persons were picked up and interrogated from Punjab, 2887 from KP, 83 from Balochistan 918 in ICT, 97 in GB and 263 in FATA. Persons arrested as a result include 1859 in Punjab, 1178 in Sindh, 4949 in KP, 263 in Balochistan, 455 in ICT, 5 in AJ and K, 10 in GB and 118 in FATA. 35 terrorist links were identified in Sindh, 103 in KP and 4 in Balochistan.

Loudspeaker violations:

2950 cases were registered in Punjab, 5 in Sindh, 97 in KP, 59 in ICT, 45 in AJ and K and one in GB. On this violation 1806 persons have been arrested in Punjab, 97 in KP and 55 in ICT. Equipment was confiscated from 1085 places in Punjab, 108 in KP, 6 in AJ and K and one in GB.

Hate Speech material:

455 cases have been registered in Punjab, 23 in KP, 4 in Balochistan, 46 in AJ and K and one in GB. 348 persons have been arrested on these charges in Punjab, 10 in KP, 8 in Balochistan and 8 in GB. Hate material has been confiscated from 24 places in KP while 41 shops selling hate material have been sealed in Punjab.

Afghan refugees:

7000 Afghan refugees have been registered in Punjab, 327788 in Balochistan and 29 in GB.

SIMS verified:

A total of 16.3 million cell phone Sims have been verified all over the country during this period including 4609147 of Mobilink, 6027351 of Telenor, 2161999 of Ufone, 1122439 of Warid and 2375063 of Zong.
