In the United States, 10 people were killed and another 10 wounded after a gunman opened fire at dance club in Monterey Park, California.
The seventy-two year old gunman tried to carry out another shooting at a separate club just minutes after the first one but the attempt was thwarted by the bystanders. Later the gunman was found dead in a van some 45 kilometers away from the shooting scene.
US President Joe Biden condemned the killings in a written statement and said he had directed his Homeland Security adviser to mobilize federal support to local authorities.
