Vale Inco reaches new collective agreement with USW Local 2020-005

SUDBURY, Mar. 31 /CNW-AsiaNet/ —

Vale Inco is pleased to announce that USW Local 2020-005, representing Office, Technical and Professional employees in the Sudbury Operations, has voted 84.5% in favor of ratifying a new three-year collective agreement with the company in voting that concluded today.

This agreement is effective from April 1, 2010 through to March 31, 2013 and includes increases to salaries in each of the three years, a Defined Contribution pension plan for new employees, the introduction of an annual incentive plan that supports the achievement of strategic objectives and rewards performance; and various other improvements to collective agreement language.

“I would like to acknowledge the hard work, dedication and professionalism of both negotiating teams and their contributions to this positive outcome for all concerned,” said John Pollesel, Vice-President, Production Services and Support, Canadian/UK Operations and General Manager for Ontario Operations. “This result clearly demonstrates that our employees understand the importance of working together to build a long-term, sustainable future for our operations in Ontario.”
