Widespread rain-thundershowers predicted in the country during next 36-48 hours

Islamabad, June 15, 2013 (PPI-OT): Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicts the prevailing weather system likely to intensify during next .36-48 hours and to grip most parts of the country from tonight. The province wise detail of expected weather is as follows;

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa:
Widespread rain-thundershowers expected in upper parts of KP (Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar Kohat divisions) while at scattered placer in southern parts (Bannu and D I Khan divisions) Heavy to very heavy Thundershowers are also expected at isolated places in Peshawar, Kohat, Malakand and Hazara divisions during next 24-36 hours.

Punjab:
Widespread rain-thundershowers expected in upper and central parts of Punjab (Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Faisalabad. Lahore, Gujranwala and Sahiwal Divisions) including Islamabad while scattered rain thunder showers also expected in south Punjab (Multan, D G Khan and Bahawalpur Divisions). Heavy to very heavy Thundershower are also expected at isolated places in Rawalpindi, Lahore, Gujranwala. Sargodha and Sahiwal divisions during next 24-36 hours. The possibility of flash flooding over the bill torrents of Suleman range and urban flooding in above cities cannot be ruled out during the period.

Sindh:
Rain-thundershowers at scattered places is expected in central and south eastern parts of Sindh (Sukkur Mirpurkhas, Hyderabad and Karachi divisions) while isolated rain is also expected in Larkana division on Friday night/Saturday morning.

Balochistan:
Scattered rain-thundershowers of moderate intensity expected in Kalat, Zhob and Sibbi divisions during next 18- 24 hours.

Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan:
Widespread rain-thundershowers with isolated moderate to heavy falls expected in Kashmir during the period while scattered rainfall is also expected in Gilgit-Baltistan.
