World Intellectual Property Rights Day will be celebrated in Befitting Manner

Islamabad: The preparation of World IP Day celebrations 2012 are in full swing. Prominent personalities and representatives of different organizations would participate in the events organized to mark the day in a befitting manner. This was stated by the Chairman IPO-Pakistan and Member National Assembly Mr. Hameed Ullah Jan Afridi while presiding a meeting to review the programs of IP Day.

The Chairman said that the important outcome of World IP Day will certainly mobilize the youth to strive for bringing new ideas in every field of life to ultimately become a knowledge based nation. He further said that current year’s theme of “Visionary Innovators” has provided an opportunity to the young researchers to come forward and introduce their innovations besides sharing their new initiatives with the participants. Hameed Ullah Jan Afridi said IP Day will unite all the experts of related fields under one roof for a common cause.

He said that in addition to the regular sessions, an IP exhibition is also planned for three days in which various Organizations are invited across the country to display their IP assets. The purpose the event is not only to celebrate in the perspective of expressed theme but also get enlightened and a way forward to carry out national program of IP by the participants and IP experts.

The Chairman further elaborated that World IP Day is being celebrated to emphasize the role and importance of management protection and enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs for patents, trademarks, service marks, copyright, industrial design, geographical indications and plant breeder’s rights.
