17th Death Anniversary of Archaeologist Prof. Ahmad Hasan Dani Being Observed Today

Islamabad: The 17th death anniversary of leading archaeologist of Pakistan, Professor Ahmad Hasan Dani, is being observed today. Professor Dani was renowned for his expertise in Central Asian and South Asian Archaeology and History.

According to Radio Pakistan, Professor Dani played a pivotal role in introducing archaeology as a discipline in higher education in both Pakistan and Bangladesh. His contributions extended beyond academia as he held numerous academic positions and participated in international fellowships throughout his career. His work in archaeological excavations and research has left a lasting impact on the field.

Professor Dani is particularly celebrated for his archaeological endeavors related to the Pre-Indus Civilization and Gandhara sites in northern Pakistan. In recognition of his significant contributions, he was awarded various civil awards in Pakistan and abroad. Professor Dani passed away on this day in Islamabad in 2009.
