PCB announces 15-member squad for ICC World Cup 2023

The Pakistan Cricket Board has announced 15-member squad for the Cricket ICC World Cup 2023.

This announcement was made by Chief Selector Inzamam-ul-Haq during a news conference in Lahore on Friday.

The squad include: Skipper Babar Azam, Shadab Khan, Abdullah Shafiq, Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali, Iftikhar Ahmed, Imam-ul-Haq, Mohammad Nawaz, Wicket Keeper Mohammad Rizwan, Muhmmad Wasim Junior, Saud Shakeel, Salman Ali Agha, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Usama Mir.

Wicket Keeper Mohammad Haris, Zaman Khan, and Abrar Ahmed have been placed as reserved members of the squad.

Saim Ayub Leads the Run-Scoring Charts in CPL

The emerging Pakistani batter, Saim Ayub, has been showcasing his batting skills and talent in the ongoing edition of the Caribbean Premier League 2023 in the West Indies.

While representing Guyana Amazon Warriors, the left-handed batter is currently the leading run-scorer in the 11th season, helping the team to sit atop the points table.

The 21-year-old batter has so far scored 304 runs in eight matches at an average of 43.42 and a strike rate of 149.01, including three half-centuries, with the highest score being 85.

Saim Ayub scored 84 runs off 53 balls against Jamaica Tallawahs, 58 runs off 35 balls against Barbados Royals, and 62 runs from 43 balls against Trinbago Knight Riders.

Guyana Amazon Warriors have won six out of eight matches while they will play their last two group stage games against Trinbago Knight Riders and Barbados Royals on September 17 and 18.

Amazon Warriors and Trinbago Knight Riders are the only teams to have qualified for the play-off stage while they will also meet on September 21 in the play-off game.

Sri Lanka qualify for Asia Cup final

Sri Lanka has qualified for the final of Asia Cup 2023 beating Pakistan by two wickets in last Super Four stage match at Colombo last night.

Batting first Pakistan scored 252 runs in allotted 42 overs.

Sri Lanka achieved the target on last ball of the match.

The final will be played between Sri Lanka and India at Colombo on Sunday.

27th CNS open golf championship to begin at Karachi tomorrow

The 27th Chief of the Naval Staff Open Golf Championship will start from tomorrow at Karachi Golf Club.

The Opening Ceremony of the Championship was held today at Karachi Golf Club.

This year the Golf Championship will be played in professionals, senior professionals, junior professionals, amateurs, senior amateurs, veterans, ladies and juniors categories.

For professionals and amateurs categories, the tournament will be contested for 72 holes and 54 holes matches respectively.

The Opening Ceremony was attended by civil and military dignitaries, sponsors, golf players and media representatives.

Pakistan make history by winning European Long Range Championship

Pakistani Long Range Team has made history by winning European Long Range Championship held at Bisley, UK.

Lieutenant General Ahsan Gulrez and Colonel Junaid Waqas won silver medals while Lieutenant Colonel Junaid Ali secured Gold. These are the first ever international medals to be won by Pakistan in international long range event.

It was the maiden appearance of Pakistan in the European Championship to compete with over 80 international shooters from 12 nations in individual matches and 12 teams in team matches.

Speaker National Assembly Raja Pervez Ashraf has felicitated Pakistan’s Army Long Range Team for winning European Long Range Championship.

In a statement today, he said we are proud of our military men who participated in the tournament and performed brilliantly.

Asia Cup 2023: Centuries by Kohli, Rahul power India to 356/2

In the Super four stage of Asia Cup at Colombo, Pakistan is chasing a victory target of 357 runs against India.

Earlier, batting first India scored 356 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in allotted fifty overs.

KR Rahul and Virat Kholi scored centuries for India while Rahul Sharma and Shubman Gill scored half centuries.

For Pakistan, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Shahdab Khan captured one wicket each.

In tomorrow’s, match India will take on Sri Lanka at the same venue at 2:30pm Pakistan Standard Time.
