Adviser on Foreign Affairs meets his Omani counterpart; holds other important activities

Adviser to the Prime Minster on Foreign Affairs, Mr. Sartaj Aziz is on a two-day bilateral visit to Muscat from September 3-4, 2016, at the invitation of H.E. Yusuf Bin Alawai Bin Abdullah, Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs of Sultanate of Oman.

Earlier today, the Adviser, along with the Omani Foreign Minister held an in depth discussion focusing on the entire spectrum of bilateral relations in an hour long session, followed with a joint press stakeout.

While appreciating the unique and historically friendly relations as a firm basis, the two dignitaries expressed their commitment to intensify exchanges and cooperation to realize full potential of the geographical and maritime proximity that complimented Pakistan and Oman.

Prior to meeting the Foreign Minister, Mr. Sartaj Aziz had delivered a lecture on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's vision for 'Peaceful Neighborhood" at the Diplomatic Institute and separately discussed Defense and Security relations with the Minister Responsible for Defense.

The engagements followed through the afternoon with the Adviser delivering a Keynote Speech at the 'Trade & Investment Promotion Event' organized by Pakistan Embassy, marked with presence of prominent businessmen as well as Chief of Investment Fund of the State General Reserve Fund, Chairman OmanChambers of Commerce & Industry, public and private print and electronic media as well as an international publication. A series of interviews were recorded on the occasion.

In the evening, Mr. Aziz met with Adviser to His Majesty on External Liaison, H.E. Dr. Omar bin Abdul Muinim al Zawawi and exchanged views on bilateral cooperation and regional situation. He had arrived to meet Dr. Zawawi after laying the 'foundation stone' for the Pakistan Embassy & Residence Complex in an impressive event mutually prepared by Mission and the Pakistani community.

The Adviser has extended an invitation to the Omani Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs to visit Pakistan which the latter warmly accepted.
