5G Technology to Catalyze Pakistan’s Economic Growth: Ahsan Iqbal

Islamabad: Minister of Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal emphasized the pivotal role of digital connectivity in driving Pakistan’s national development. Speaking at a ceremony in Islamabad, he articulated the government’s commitment to a strategic Five-Es framework focused on export-led growth, e-Pakistan, environment and climate change, energy and infrastructure, and equity and empowerment.

According to Radio Pakistan, Ahsan Iqbal highlighted that 5G technology extends beyond faster internet speeds, serving as a transformative force for industrial, social, and economic evolution. He referenced the World Economic Forum’s projection that 5G could contribute up to 13.2 trillion dollars to the global economy by 2030, underscoring the technology’s potential impact.

The minister detailed the vast opportunities that 5G technology could unlock across various sectors, including healthcare, education, transportation, agriculture, industry, and smart cities. He also mentioned the significance of the MoUs signed between the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority and the Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission last year, marking a significant advancement in telecommunication and digital innovation and connectivity.
