A nine member delegation from Pakistan Cutlery and Stainless Steel Utensils Manufacturers and Exporters Association visiting South Africa

Karachi, February 06, 2015 (PPI-OT): Organized by the High Commission, a nine member delegation from Pakistan Cutlery and Stainless Steel Utensils Manufacturers and Exporters Association, Wazirabad is currently visiting South Africa. During their first ever visit to South Africa, the Association’s delegates will study the market, hold B2B meetings and prepare a strategy for launching their products in the region.

The delegation, consisting of manufacturers of cutlery products, utensils and hunting knives, will visit Johannesburg, Pretoria and Durban to meet importers of their products and to discuss business prospects with Chambers of Commerce and other related Government Departments. Possibility of future participation in trade shows, organized in South Africa, will also be explored.

The delegation called on the High Commissioner of Pakistan, H.E. Mr. Najm us Saqib today. Briefing them on the business spectrum of South Africa, the High Commissioner advised the delegates to enhance their marketing ingress in the region while emphasising the need to participate in various fares and exhibitions being held here.

Catering for over 90 per cent of Pakistan’s production in cutlery and hunting equipment, Wazirabad is the hub of related business. The sector comprises over 400 SMEs, of which 250 are cutlery manufacturers and the remainder 150 being involved in the manufacturing of hunting equipment and swords. South Africa relies heavily on the imports of these products. The manufacturing base of the South Africa is still growing and there is sufficient room available for the Pakistani manufactures and exporters.

Pakistani exports to South Africa have increased from US$ 275 million to US$ 294 million during 2013-14. The visit by Pakistan Cutlery and Stainless Steel Utensils Manufacturers and Exporters Association will go a long way in contributing in furthering our overall objective of increasing exports from Pakistan.
