Agriculture Sector Sees Growth Through SIFC’s Initiatives

Karachi: The agriculture sector is showing signs of growth, aided by government initiatives and the support of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC). This development marks a significant step forward in efforts to enhance agricultural productivity.

According to a statement by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, a Bio-saline Center has been established at Sindh Agricultural University with the aim of converting thirty-five percent of barren land into cultivable land. This initiative focuses on developing modern strategies to address challenges posed by salinity-affected soils.

A recently completed project, funded by an Australian research center, examined the effects of salinity on agriculture. This project has led to the successful cultivation of trees and plants on salinity-affected land, which is regarded as a promising achievement in the sector.

Moreover, a new water management project is under consideration. This project involves monitoring the drainage of water from fourteen canals and analyzing its potential for agricultural use, further underscoring efforts to optimize water resources in farming practices.
