Islamabad:Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal has called for the continuity of policies to achieve sustainable development in the country. He made these remarks during the opening session of the 39th Annual Conference of the Pakistan Society of Development Economists, organized by the Pakistan Institute of Development Economics.

According to Radio Pakistan, Ahsan Iqbal stated that the future of Pakistan’s export order should be independent of the political administration’s future. He also presented a roadmap to achieve Pakistan’s one billion dollar export ambition.

The Minister emphasized that Pakistan’s economic sovereignty relies on its capacity to generate the necessary resources for financing development. He highlighted that expanding productive capacity and competitiveness is crucial for overcoming recurring external-account pressures while maintaining macroeconomic stability.

Furthermore, Ahsan Iqbal underscored the importance of establishing export clusters. These clusters should link producers with specialized suppliers, skilled workers, universities, testing laboratories, finance, logistics, and international buyers.
