Aik by BankIslami Launches Shariah-Compliant QR Payment Service in Karachi

Karachi: Aik by BankIslami is set to launch a Shariah-compliant QR payment service for local merchants as part of the Go Cashless Economy Drive initiated by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the State Bank of Pakistan. The activation campaign will take place at Creek Walk Food Street in Karachi from November 7 to 16, 2025.

The initiative is designed to encourage the adoption of digital payments through a secure, fast, and Shariah-compliant solution known as aik QR. This service aims to help merchants and customers transition to a cashless, interest-free financial environment.

Ashfaque Ahmed, Chief Officer of aik, emphasized the importance of the campaign, stating, “This drive is about digitizing everyday commerce-right where local entrepreneurs serve their customers.” The QR payment feature allows merchants to receive payments securely and efficiently, while customers can enjoy a cashless experience in line with Pakistan’s national vision.

To further encourage participation, aik QR payments will offer a 50% cashback incentive for customers of aik and BankIslami, and a 30% cashback for customers using other banks, subject to terms and conditions.

This campaign highlights aik and BankIslami’s commitment to financial inclusion and innovation, aiming to boost digital payment adoption and strengthen their presence in Karachi’s retail and dining sectors.
