Mirpur: The Azad Jammu and Kashmir Government has initiated the feasibility process for establishing an international airport in Mirpur. Addressing a function in Mirpur, AJK Minister for Physical Planning Yasir Sultan Chaudhry said that the city has a significant population of over a million UK-based Kashmiri expatriates.
According to Radio Pakistan, the proposed airport aims to cater to the needs of the expatriate community, providing them with direct and convenient air travel options. This initiative is expected to foster stronger connections between the Kashmiri diaspora and their homeland, potentially boosting economic and cultural exchanges.
The feasibility study will assess various aspects, including site selection, environmental impacts, and potential economic benefits.
