AJK Prime Minister Pays Tribute to Afzal Guru on Martyrdom Anniversary

Islamabad: Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Chaudhry Anwar ul Haq, honoring Muhammad Afzal Guru on his martyrdom anniversary, stated that Guru was considered a hero by the Kashmiri people.

According to a statement by Kashmir Media Service, Muhammad Afzal Guru was executed by hanging in New Delhi’s Tihar Jail on February 9, 2013. His remains were interred within the confines of the jail.

In a video message marking the 12th anniversary of Guru’s death, Anwar ul Haq described the execution as an extrajudicial killing. He noted that the Indian Supreme Court had justified its ruling to appease the conscience of the Indian populace.

The AJK prime minister emphasized that the Kashmiri people would persist in their quest for independence from India, committing to make any necessary sacrifices to achieve their goals.
