Aleem Khan Vows to Upgrade GT Road to Motorway Standards

Lahore: Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan has reiterated the government’s commitment to bring the Grand Trunk Road at par with motorway standards. He was presiding over a meeting of the National Highway Authority (NHA) Punjab Region in Lahore today to review ongoing and proposed infrastructure projects.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Minister emphasized that since the GT Road generates significant revenue, it is imperative to provide commuters with world-class facilities in return. He directed NHA officials to adopt modern measures to regulate heavy traffic pressure on national highways.

The meeting reviewed the redesign of the N-5 Highway from Ring Road to Phoolnagar. Abdul Aleem Khan directed phased improvement of the GT Road, adding that after Phoolnagar, the stretch up to Okara and Sahiwal should also be upgraded.
