Ambassador delivers a lecture at Graduate Institute for Policy Studies

Tokyo, June 23, 2015 (PPI-OT): Ambassador made a presentation “Looking-Forward: Pakistan in 21st Century” at the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS), one of the leading think tanks in Japan, on 15 June 2015. Over 160 foreign and Japanese students, diplomats, professors, researchers, journalists and government officials attended the lecture.

In the presentation, the Ambassador briefed the audience about the Prime Minister’s vision of Regional Integration Peace and Development and a “peaceful neighbourhood”. He especially outlined Pakistan’s sacrifices and contributions for world peace and security through Peacekeeping Operations across the world since 1960.

He highlighted the free and transparent elections in 2013 and smooth transition of power from one elected government to other democratically elected government, which showed growing democratic culture, and the strengthening of democratic institutions in Pakistan. He also elaborated on Government’s efforts to promote and protect political, economic, social and cultural rights of women.

In addition, the Ambassador underscored current positive trends of Pakistan economy and its recognition by international financial institutions and media. The presentation was followed by a lively and interactive Question-Answer Session in which the Ambassador answered questions from the several participants.
