Srinagar: In Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, India has further tightened its repressive grip on the territory as the National Investigation Agency carried out coordinated raids at multiple locations in Srinagar, Baramulla, and Bandipora districts.
According to Radio Pakistan, NIA teams, backed by Indian police and paramilitary forces, conducted simultaneous search operations at residential premises. Civil society members described the operations as collective punishment and psychological harassment of families.
Meanwhile, harassment of Kashmiris continues unabated even outside the occupied territory. In Rajasthan, five Kashmiris from Poonch were arrested on the pretext of collecting madrassa donations. In Himachal Pradesh, intolerance reached another alarming level as a Kashmiri shawl seller, Mohammad Ramzan, was assaulted in Kangra district.
Political concerns over mass detentions continue to grow. Talking to newsmen in Jammu, a Member of Parliament of the National Conference, Altaf Kullo, called for the immediate return of all Kashmiri political prisoners lodged in jails outside the territory. He said keeping detainees away from their families amounts to inhumane collective punishment.
