Baku:The economy’s agriculture, housing, and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) sectors have historically struggled due to inadequate bank loans and financing. Banks have often been hesitant to provide financing to SMEs.
According to Radio Pakistan, the State Bank of Pakistan has set loan targets for banks to support these sectors. Banks failing to meet these targets may face fines. Furthermore, the interest rates on loans are expected to be reasonable or concessional to promote growth in these areas.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has addressed these challenges, which is anticipated to aid in the growth of these sectors in the near future. In a high-level meeting, he discussed improving access to finance for agriculture, housing, and the SME sectors. The Prime Minister also commended banks that are actively participating in loan disbursements for these vital national development sectors.
